Welcome once again to the most prestigious board contest of all time!
If you are new please read all the rules; otherwise, just read rules #3 and #5 to refresh your memory of the latest oracle rules. Also, please read the important notice below for smooth operation of the Oracle Challenge!
IMPORTANT!!
When predicting, please always use the full and exact name of the game (including the subs) as they will appear in the poll selection (copy paste list will be provided below), so no FFX/Final Fantasy 10/Zelda:WW/SSBM//Halo/WoW etc please (for example: use Final Fantasy X, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Halo: Combat Evolved, and World of Warcraft instead)
A very easy to use Copy Paste list has been provided at the bottom of the opening post for the matches you can predict in the topic, so to save everyone's time, PLEASE USE THE COPY PASTE LIST PROVIDED. This will help me get through all predictions with the script faster. If too many of you do not follow this rule, this will either go into the official rule (where if the script did not pick it up the first time, it will be ignored) or the updates may be delayed significantly.
So yeah, since this is a game contest, I feel the need to emphasize this because games in a series have similar names and many games have a long name that many people tend to become lazy and start using acronyms, so once again, use the copy paste list provided!
That is all. Enjoy the Oracle Challenge!
The Challenge
For each match in the GameFAQs Fall 2010 Game of the Decade Contest (referred herein as "SC2k10"), you need to pick a winner and predict the percentage of the vote they will receive. New participants will always be accepted throughout the contest (but please indicate that you are new and make a minimum of three picks).
Post your predictions in this topic, one prediction per line. Your predictions must start with the name of your winner and end with your predicted percentage. Examples:
Final Fantasy VII with 53%
Final Fantasy VII 53.8%
Final Fantasy VII over The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with 53.82%
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 52.69%
Please use one of these formats, and always remember to include the % sign. Please use the "full name" of the game in your prediction (e.g. Super Smash Bros. Melee instead of just Melee) as indicated in our "copy paste" list at the bottom of the opening post. Predictions are entered into our database by a script, which may miss your predictions if you use some other weird format.
The Scoring
For each match you will earn points based on how close your guess was to the actual outcome. Scoring is cumulative and the winner of the SC2k10 Oracle Challenge will be the person with the most points at the end of the final match! For each match you can earn anywhere from 0 and 50 points. The scoring system works as follows:
Correctly choosing the winner earns you 50-x points.
Incorrectly choosing the winner earns you 45-x points.
(Where x is the difference between your guess and the game's actual final percentage.)
Example:
Your guess: Final Fantasy VII with 55%
My guess: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with 55%
Actual result: FF7 60%, OoT 40%
Your score: 50 - (60-55) = 45 points
My score: 45 - (55-40) = 30 points
