Haste2:
I think multi-option polls will be pretty linear...

I'm almost positive it isn't. You can see for yourself by running Excel simulations, it only takes a couple minutes. It is highly non-linear; it only works out linearly 2-way because of the simplicity. The same theoretical base generalized to 3 or more characters becomes highly non-linear very quickly.

My prediction is that people who haven't read about this will be just blown away by how mind-numbingly pathetic the %ages of many of the 4th place finishers will be.

I'm thinking the reason they didn't appear so in the Battle Royale last year was this: first of all, SFF galore. The other thing is that some of the guys, mainly Link and Cloud, are so incredibly popular, that their favoritism outshines their 1-on-1 strength due to anti-votes and the like.

The Battle Royale had much SFF, but then lots of these matches do as well. But it wasn't particularly anomalous I think. As for anti-votes, I've never seen any evidence for that being anything different than core strength. That might be similar to "core fanbase loyalty" or something; I do think there will be some friction (and in some cases a lot of friction) against characters who have cult fanbases getting really low percentages, but unless a weak character has a cult or loyal fanbase, expect them to get whacked so bad it will make your eyes hurt!

King Morgoth:
I move to push this towards the Oracle discussion topic though.

Whoop, didn't realize there was one. I would've posted there instead, my bad.
