Ngamer made the "saner" pick with L-Block winning...that might really help us stay tops in teams, because mine was "risky", especially in light of some of the risky pro-block stance some people have taken in order to move up.

I must say, it's really cool to see all of you guys still around and participating in this thing. I guess I should've shown up a little earlier though. I didn't even submit a bracket this year. :(

How awesome would it be if your prediction was the one perfect prediction of the contest
That would indeed be awesome. However, considering how incredibly unlikely it is, what I should have done was just picked Snake with 100% so I could at least have the distinction of finishing last. ;)

Several hours ago, I remember making a topic about L-Block having a vote lead of over 9000. I stated in that topic that I could safely say L-Block would be capable of beating link if he managed to get a vote lead of over 15000 by the end of this match. Seeing as he would end up with a vote lead of about 14000 at the end of this match, I won't put L-Block ahead of Link for my prediction.

I'd actually been poking my head in from time to time in order to keep an eye on the stats topics. My plan was to sneak in and post the 500th as a complete surprise. But then I had an extended absence from the board and by the time I checked again I'd missed it by about 22 topics (whoops). Ah well, maybe for the 1000th...

I don't even participate in the Oracle, but I heard solarshadow was here, and I don't think I ever had the chance to formally thank him.
Back in 2k2 when I first lurked on this board (because I thought the idea of the contest was cool), for whatever reason you were the first Character Battle stat-head I ever noticed and gave credence to. From that point forward I actually put some effort into these contests and took bracket-making seriously, and it led me to my 2006 Championship (and $400!).
So, on my last official day as the reigning champion, I'd like to say thanks and pay homage to solarshadow.

That's really cool. Congrats on your victory, JaKyL25! It's amazing sometimes how we're able to influence other people without even realizing it (and then randomly find out about it years later). I certainly appreciate the acknowledgment (brought a smile to my face).

Match # 62 Results
L-Block 34.63%
Solid Snake 26.20%
Master Chief 24.04%
Dante 15.13%
The world has officially gone insane. Today L-Block destroys Solid Snake and sends himself to the finals as a serious contender for the overall title. He's come a long way since losing to Kirby by 14% in round 1. The consensus predictions were Snake - 29.42%; L-Block - 28.87%; Master Chief - 25.06%; Dante - 16.60%. The average score was 46.79 points.
Best Five Picks:
1) Ngamer64 - Dante 14.78% - L-Block 30.65% - Master Chief 26.12% - Solid Snake 28.45% (+47.83)
2) th3l3fty - Dante 14.95% - L-Block 30.33% - Master Chief 25.84% - Solid Snake 28.88% (+47.76)
3) ActJef1077 - Dante 16.00% - L-Block 30.00% - Master Chief 25.00% - Solid Snake 29.00% (+47.68)
3) somdude04 - Dante 16.00% - L-Block 30.00% - Master Chief 26.00% - Solid Snake 28.00% (+47.68)
5) Weird Kirby Dude11 - Dante 17.00% - L-Block 30.00% - Master Chief 24.00% - Solid Snake 29.00% (+47.66)
5) Leebo86 - Dante 16.00% - L-Block 30.00% - Master Chief 24.00% - Solid Snake 30.00% (+47.66)
5) GoldSlime35 - Dante 16.00% - L-Block 30.00% - Master Chief 24.00% - Solid Snake 30.00% (+47.66)
Ngamer has the top pick today! It's too bad he misses a match every contest, since it looks like cost himself another top 10 finish this time. (For those keeping track, he's previously cost himself a potential top 10 finish and a potential top 5 finish by missing matches). Th3l3fty is second, for his fourth top 5 of the contest. ActJef and somdude tied for third, while Weird Kirby Dude, Leebo, and GoldSlime all tied for fifth. The top 5 were tightly packed today, covering a range of 0.17 points.
Complete Match Ranking:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k7&type=match&match=62
Current Leaderboard:
1) The n00b Avenger - 2906.90
2) Haste2 - 2904.02
3) MegatokyoEd - 2902.75
4) creativename - 2902.51
5) DSRage - 2902.03
With just one match to go, The n00b Avenger is still in first, leading by nearly three points. Everyone in the top 5 is within 5 points of him, but that's a hard amount to make up in this contest. With L-Block's unpredictability, who knows - DSRage made a very aggressive prediction in the hopes of taking the lead. Salient (who finished second last contest) and smitelf are also just outside the top 5 (by 0.20 and 0.34 points), so they'll be fighting for a spot on the final leaderboard today.

Top Team Scores:
1) SPO*N - 95.34 (Weird Kirby Dude11: +47.66 / ActJef1077: +47.68)
2) Predestined Divination - 95.26 (creativename: +47.43 / Ngamer64: +47.83)
3) Discovery Channel - 94.78 (Jmast7: +47.12 / Leebo86: +47.66)
4) Happy Happyists - 94.59 (Camden: +47.16 / meche313: +47.43)
5) We Used To Be Good? - 94.55 (Kaxon: +47.62 / King Morgoth: +46.93)
5) Klonoa Alliance - 94.55 (raytan7585: +47.23 / amyvitality66: +47.32)
Team SPO*N grabs the top score for themselves today - Weird Kirby Dude and ActJef were both in the individual top 5, so it's no surprise they're first in the teams. The Juggernaut continues to destroy everything in its path - this time they're second for their 17th top 5 of the contest. Team Discovery Channel gets their 10th top 5 this contest, followed by Team Happy Happyists with their 16th. Finally, we have a tie for fifth (unusual in the teams) between Team We Used To Be Good? and Team Klonoa Alliance. (Amy outscored Ray again today - I blame the crazy maid for this one).
Complete Team Match Ranking:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k7&type=teammatch&match=62
Team Leaderboard:
1) Team Predestined Divination (creativename / Ngamer64) - 5794.78
2) Team Rage of Warcraft (War13104 / DSRage) - 5783.77
3) Team Happy Happyists (Camden / meche313) - 5779.31
4) Team We Used To Be Good? (Kaxon / King Morgoth) - 5774.73
5) Team mvp's (ps2rulezzz / basmeyer42) - 5769.22
Going into the last match, the team standings look pretty set. Team PD leads by exactly 11 points over Rage of Warcraft. Every other team on the leaderboard is separated by at least 4.47 points, while sixth place Team Helmasaur King has over seven points to make up if they want to break on to the leaderboard.
It's also interesting to note that every team in the top 5 is a returning team that worked together in a previous contest - and four of five have been around for all three team contests. These five teams have spent a combined 457 days on the team leaderboard across all three team contests. That's an average of 91.4 days per team, out of a total of 157 days possible.

I've been following this contest as diligently as always, despite massive workloads...what's your excuse, pansy! ;)
Haha! :P Among my excuses I'll include trying to plan a wedding and buy a house. I feel like I'm all grown up now with no time to play with my friends. :(
Hey I think I made a post about exactly this just before that.
It would've been fun. I can't believe I totally missed it (like, not even close). I've started to enjoy making unexpected appearances -- hence a completely out of the blue prediction in this challenge.
Good to see you, oh mighty creator! He who made this Oracle world from the husk of Tiamat :)
Heh. I must admit it warms my heart whenever I come back here and see that the things I put so much time and effort into (Stats Topic, Oracle Challenge, stats websites, etc.) have not only continued on without me, but have been expanded and improved upon by people more talented than myself. I'm pleased to have been able to contribute to the enjoyment (and in some cases finances, apparently) of my board 8 pals in a meaningful and lasting way.
I hope that didn't come off as sounding too sentimental. ;)

Thought I'd repost this from the Rd 5 topic. I noticed I didn't have a prediction for the final on the website, but maybe it just hasn't been updated.

message detail Sorry to be a pain, but I won't be able to get online again until after the start of the final match, and as there's no topic yet, was hoping to make an early prediction for the final match. Two finalists are already decided (Link and Cloud), so I'll just predict based on the three possible finals I can see happening (Can't see Dante getting enough support to make the final). If you won't accept these, or it mucks up my semi final prediction somehow - I'll understand.

Too lazy to go into decimals, not going to affect much anyway. Probably be way off.
Thanks.

Not going to make much difference - won't be a top 5 with that score, and I'm not going to be winning or anything :)
