Just wish I changed that one pick....
GoldSlime35 was an old time Oracle competitor who predicted every match in the first three Oracle Challenges. His scores were a little above average, but nothing special; then in 2005 he didn't come back and it looked like his Oracle career had ended uneventfully. However, after taking two contests off, he returned to competition in July reenergized and shocked everyone.
GoldSlime started off slow, and on day 14 he made one of the bigger mistakes in Oracle history when he predicted Mega Man to beat Mario Kart with 80.35%. I don't know if anyone knows exactly what happened there, but it clearly wasn't what he intended. In the second half GoldSlime went on an amazing run, landing himself in 3rd place on the second to last day of the contest. Even though he took a risk on Final Fantasy and finished 5th, it turns out he would have easily won the whole thing if only it weren't for his mistake in the Mega Man match. Even though he didn't win the title GoldSlime won a ton of respect for his comeback and his amazing second half last time around.

Speaking of Oracle legends, King Morgoth has one of the most impressive Oracle records there is. He won the spring 2004 Oracle Challenge over Bananaquest with one of the most amazing comebacks in history, and followed that up with a #2 finish in summer 2004 and a #3 finish in spring 2005. He's also the guy who kept the contest alive when solarshadow retired from board 8. Morgoth has been in a bit of a slump for the last two contests, but he has the skill and the determination to return to his winning ways. He's not afraid to take a risky upset (as he proved when he picked Starcraft to beat Wind Waker), and he knows more about the contest than almost anyone. No one else has finished in the top 3 three times, so Morgoth is definitely someone to watch out for.

Alanna first entered the Oracle in spring 2004, where she finishd fourth behind a trio of Oracle legends: King Morgoth, Bananaquest, and kawaiifan. She followed that up with a 10th place in summer 2004. She had one down contest in spring 2005, but since then she's finished 15th and 12th in the last two contests. She ranks sixth overall in lifetime average, and sixth overall in points above average (outscoring the field by an average of 1.42 per match she's predicted). Alanna was part of the second place Team Jigglypuff last contest, and she's been on an upward trend for the last few contest, so she's a big threat this time around.

No list can ever be complete without a mention of the Oracle Queen herself. Nobody can match her overall record, and very few people can say they accomplished something she didn't (I'm looking at you Xuxon >_>). From the very beginning of the Oracle Challenge she established herself as a force to be reckoned with. After three straight apparitions on the Final Leaderboard, including a solid win in SC2k4, she struggled a bit but still scored two more Final 10 finishes. She got her worst finish ever last spring with a nonetheless very very good 15th place, and still holds the second highest lifetime average, the highest Points Above Average score by a mile and the best average in the Classic Scoring System. It's easy to expect a user who has been on the leaderboard over 100 days to come back and want more...

After missing a few matches in 2003, creativename showed his talent by taking back-to-back Top 15 spots in 2004, spending 35 days on the leaderboard in the process. As if this wasn't enough, he managed to pull back-to-back Final Leaderboard spots in 2005, spending 31 days in the lead, 73 on the leaderboard and catching the 2005 Player of the Year award on the way. He's still in the running this year, with a Top 10 finish last Spring, and with the 4th highest lifetime average and the 3rd highest Points Above Average score, he's one of those players you know you'll see on the leaderboard.

To absolutely no one's surprise, our number 1 most dangerous competitor for Character Battle V is Xuxon! That quote up above is what Xuxon wrote at the end of the summer 2005 contest. Sure enough, in July he came back and won the title again, becoming the first ever two-time Oracle champion. Winning two Oracle Challenges easily justifies his position at the top of this list, but Xuxon is also one of only three competitors with three top 5 finishes (kawaiifan and King Morgoth are the other two). He's predicted all but four matches in Oracle history, but he's really been on fire since last year's summer contest. After two wins, he looks pretty unstoppable. It's hard to imagine he could possibly win three, but it was hard to imagine anyone winning two before he did it. Xuxon is definitely the contender to watch out for this time around.

Nice writeups and a hilarious team name given to us. I took more upsets than ever this contest according to the BOP at 7, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Of course, as the contest goes on I'll inevitably change my mind, which luckily is ok for the Oracle Challenge.
