Also, it makes things easier for me if you post your prediction on its own line, separate from the "for tomorrow, I predict..." part.
Basically, the way it works is that everything before "with" is considered the character's name. It can recognize "Mario" by itself and record the prediction. However, if the name is "For tomorrow, I predict Mario" or "Mario will win", then I have to tell it manually who you're talking about. That slows things down.

As our final feature before the beginning of the contest, we have the top 10 contenders for the SC2k5 Oracle Challenge title. This list was compiled by King Morgoth and myself, based on every measure of past performance we have available, combined with a little bit of our own predictive skills. Looking over the stats really highlighted how many great competitors there are in this contest. If you didn't make the list this time, there's just one thing you need to do - prove us wrong, starting tomorrow. =)

"Giving the rest of the field a better chance by skipping matches since 2004"
TenkoStar17 was kept out of the top 10 by his lack of a top finish, which is largely due to missing matches in both 2004 contests. Because he's never finished at the top of the standings, he's managed to fly under the radar, despite being one of the best predictors for three contests now. A little-known fact is that TenkoStar has the 6th highest lifetime average (44.10) out of all the Oracle competitors to predict at least one full contest (63 matches). If he gets a prediction in for every match this time, as he did in the spring, he'll be a force to be reckoned with.
I'll be posting the top 10 over the next hour or so, feel free to guess at them if you like. =)

"Watch out, someday I'll get around to predicting ALL matches..."
Ngamer64 holds the distinction of being the only person to ever finish the top 10 while missing a match. In 2003, Ngamer finished 8th despite handing his opponents about a 40 point handicap by failing to predict Mario vs Shadow. Because the 2003 Oracle Challenge only ran for 31 matches, skipping one match there would be equivalent to skipping 2 matches in a full contest! Despite the 40 point handicap, he still managed to beat out more than half of the people who predicted all 31 matches. If he hadn't missed any matches, he would have finished 3rd in SC2k3, 8th in SpC2k4 and 5th in SC2k4. His actual record his excellent, but his potential record is astonishing.

It looked like ps2rulezzz might have gone the way of Bananaquest until he appeared less than 36 hours before contest time with his predictions. ps2rulezzz has two top ten finishes and the second highest lifetime average with 44.77 points, trailing only Bananaquest. Ngamer64 holds the distinction of being the only person to ever finish the top 10 while missing a match. In 2003, Ngamer finished 8th despite handing his opponents about a 40 point handicap by failing to predict Mario vs Shadow. Because the 2003 Oracle Challenge only ran for 31 matches, skipping one match there would be equivalent to skipping 2 matches in a full contest! Despite the 40 point handicap, he still managed to beat out more than half of the people who predicted all 31 matches. If he hadn't missed any matches, he would have finished 3rd in SC2k3, 8th in SpC2k4 and 5th in SC2k4. His actual record his excellent, but his potential record is astonishing.

It's hard to imagine anyone placing higher than kawaiifan on this list, but King Morgoth did it by finishing ahead of her in 2 out of the last 3 contests. Out of those three, in the one contest where he finished behind kawaiifan, he ranked 2nd overall. Morgoth has too many accomplishments to list here, but the only ones that really matter are the 1-2-3 rankings in the last three contests. The only possible complaint about his record is that he's been dropping for two contests, but it's hard to complain when his worst finish in two years is 3rd place. We'll have to wait and see whether he's able to reverse that trend this contest.

It's hard to imagine anyone placing higher than kawaiifan on this list, but King Morgoth did it by finishing ahead of her in 2 out of the last 3 contests. Out of those three, in the one contest where he finished behind kawaiifan, he ranked 2nd overall. Morgoth has too many accomplishments to list here, but the only ones that really matter are the 1-2-3 rankings in the last three contests. The only possible complaint about his record is that he's been dropping for two contests, but it's hard to complain when his worst finish in two years is 3rd place. We'll have to wait and see whether he's able to reverse that trend this contest.

Anyway, great work on the Top 10 list. I don't believe I saw this last time. I think that because of this, this topic should be archived at oraclechallenge.com.
