The man in the red overalls defeated the spiky-haired hero to become our Summer 2005 champion. Crono put up a better fight against Mario than anyone else in the contest, but he still couldn't stop the momentum of the Mario freight train. Mario now gets a one day breather while the real champions show how it's done, before he comes back to face Sephiroth on Wendesday. Today there were 52 Mario predictions and 14 Crono predictions. The consensus was Mario with 52.12%. There were 8 people expecting history to repeat itself (or mirror itself) - 5 people predicted the winner would have 50.05% (two for Mario, three for Crono), and three predicted Mario would win with 53.24%. The average score was 45.71.

Darkash breaks the record!! Not only does Darkash smash the previous record for most top 5s in a contest, but he does it in style, doing it on the 63rd day (no asterisk next to his record) and taking second in an extremely competitive poll. In addition to that, his 12 top 5's come in the contest with by far the most predictions per match (making it harder to get top 5's). We'll see if he's able to pad his record in the three extra days of the contest.

Today Heroic Viktor took the top prediction, continuing to work on his comeback. This is his second #1 prediction in four days. Three people tied for third, with two different predictions - PeaceOut64 and and now I dance both had Mario with 53.7, while Team Rocket Elite had the equally good Mario with 54.

There's a real struggle at the top as we go into the Tournament of Champions - today Xuxon retook the lead from Master Moltar, pushing Moltar down to second place. StopPokingMe is a little ways behind in 3rd place, followed by Haste2, who has a very narrow lead over Heroic Viktor.

How the hell did that happen??? Well, it turns out we once again forgot to record the predictions Dilated Chemist sent us well over a month ago. Sorry, Ngamer, but Dilated Chemist has actually been leading this leaderboard for a while. If Dilated Chemist could predict these matches so well in the middle of the first round, it really makes you wonder whether seeing the results as they develop is an actual advantage.

Ngamer remains in second on this leaderboard, followed by yoblazer, Camden, and Duffer. The only change to the final phase leaderboard today is Dilated Chemist's sudden appearance at the top.
