This doesn't look right...my flawed method tends to give much more lopsided results. Also it doesn't add up right.
Er... I hate to not give you credit for realizing this, and maybe I'm misunderstanding your interpretation, but that was your flawed method in reverse. So your flawed method giving abnormally low scores to the weakest character, in reverse, gives the character a relatively high x-stat value.
