Match #21 Results
Sora 75.61%
Tingle 24.39%

Today one of the biggest wildcards of the contest, Tingle, went up against Sora and used his Legend of Zelda fanbase to perform better than expected. This was still the biggest blowout of Sora's career as he managed to get the tripling, something he couldn't do against either of the 47's. The consensus was Sora with 78.41% and the average score was 45.62. All 135 predictions were for Sora.

Best Five Picks:
1) ps2rulezzz - Sora 75.63% (+49.98)
2) KrusTy the KloWn - Sora 75.57% (+49.96)
3) GoldSlime35 - Sora 75.66% (+49.95)
4) Rodri316 - Sora 75.55% (+49.94)
4) JayLv100 - Sora 75.55% (+49.94)

Today's top predictor is the guy known for his amazing average, ps2rulezzz! This is his third top 5 of the contest and 16th lifetime. Second is Krusty the Klown, with his second 2nd place (and second top 5) this contest. The guy who almost won last contest's Oracle, GoldSlime35, places third. Rodri and JayLv100 tie for 4th in this high scoring top 5 with 49.94 points.

Current Leaderboard:
1) DSRage - 970.23
2) cyko - 967.81
3) Aprosenf - 961.57
4) Kaxon - 961.17
5) Luster Soldier - 959.71

DSRage once again holds on to the top spot, gaining a little bit of ground against cyko and Aprosenf, who both had higher predictions. Kaxon finally gets tired of fifth place after five days and moves up to fourth! He's celebrating his 69th day on the leaderboard today. Meanwhile, Luster Soldier is enjoying his second day on the leaderboard, but he falls behind Kaxon, dropping down to fifth.

Top Team Scores:
1) Team mvp's - 99.39 (ps2rulezzz: +49.98 / basmeyer42: +49.41)
2) Team The Spirit of Truth - 98.55 (Draco1214: +48.61 / Rodri316: +49.94)
3) Team Unfinished FFP - 98.42 (Ed Bellis: +49.39 / Karma Hunter: +49.03)
4) Team Happy Happyists - 98.12 (Camden: +48.61 / meche313: +49.51)
5) Team Random - 97.90 (XIII is cool: +49.19 / Giggsalot: +48.71)

The defending champs, Team mvp's, make some noise today, getting the top score (powered by ps2rulezzz's top prediction). The leaderboard teams do well overall, as Team The Spirit of Truth, Team Unfinished FFP, and Team Happy Happyists are 2-3-4. Team Random (XIII is cool and Giggsalot) manages fifth with an impressive 97.9 points.

Team Leaderboard:
1) Team Unfinished FFP (Ed Bellis / Karma Hunter) - 1916.56
2) Team The Spirit of Truth (Draco1214 / Rodri316) - 1912.37
3) Team Rage of Warcraft (War13104 / DSRage) - 1911.37
4) Team We Used To Be Good? (Kaxon / King Morgoth) - 1908.53
5) Team Happy Happyists (Camden / meche313) - 1902.96

There aren't too many changes on the leaderboard today, which isn't surprising considering how well three of the top 5 teams did. Team Unfinished FFP holds on to first place, while Team The Spirit of Truth moves back up one spot to second. Team Rage of Warcraft drops to third, while Teams We Used To Be Good? and Happy Happyists hold on to fourth and fifth, respectively.

Also, I've noticed how changing the numbers on the match results will show us the predictions for matches that haven't happened yet, but for some reason, this doesn't work when viewing team results. The match listed changes, but the predictions will all read "Dante with xx.xx%" instead of changing also.

Actually, it seems like it DOES work on the team results page, you just need to be on the overall results and not the match results.

I just thought about something. How come that many popular people from the stats topic, who find themselves to be very good predictors, using x-stats and all kind of things, don't predict in the oracle challenge. Also some people from the Contest Analysis Crew. Is it because they are afraid that they will get below a lot of unexperienced predictors and lose their status? BEcause I always see them make predictions but not in the oracle topics.

heh, "lose their status". some people just don't do it - Leonhart never participates in the Guru contest either. others are just lazy. I highly doubt it has anything to do with internet message board status.

a good chunk of us from the stats topic do (cyko, for example, is second and Karma Hunter's somewhere in the top ten). Moltar's also up there.

I've wondered about that before myself. I think most likely they're just not that interested - HM and Ulti both predict sometimes, but they never stick around for the whole contest. I'm not really sure why they're not into it since anyone who cares enough to post in the stats topic seems like they would enjoy this contest, but oh well.

Good prediction for Gordon this time for me. There were quite a few people who overrated Gordon, the very few Phoenix pickers, you can pretty much say that the predictions were all over the place, so I should do fine today.

Tomorrow's match was the one I had to analyze so I'l be appearing on the Analysis Crew, yay!

Match #22 Results
Gordon Freeman 58.20%
Phoenix Wright 41.80%

Somehow, the universe and the Oracle Challenge manage to (narrowly) survive Gordon Freeman's victory, so let's get on with the results! Gordon continued his tradition of matches that are closer than 60-40, and Phoenix impressed many doubters in the early hours of the poll, before struggling later in the day. There was a stampede of changes to Gordon the night before the poll, so the most divided match we've had in a while was still well in Gordon's favor. 105 people picked Gordon to win and 32 backed Phoenix. The consensus was Gordon with 57.15% and the average score was 43.54.

Best Five Picks:
1) Ayvuir - Gordon Freeman 58.29% (+49.91)
1) ActJef1077 - Gordon Freeman 58.29% (+49.91)
3) alpha door - Gordon Freeman 58.47% (+49.73)
4) Salient - Gordon Freeman 58.50% (+49.70)
5) Karma Hunter - Gordon Freeman 58.53% (+49.67)

Today we have a tie for the top spot, between Ayvuir and ActJef1077! This is Ayvuir's second top 5 of the contest and ActJef's third... and they both had one top 5 prior to this contest. Alpha door takes third place, followed by Salient. Karma Hunter, who up until now has mostly been visible in the team contest, gets his first individual top 5.

Complete Match Ranking:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k6&type=match&match=22

Current Leaderboard:
1) DSRage - 1019.15
2) cyko - 1017.23
3) Kaxon - 1009.97
4) Aprosenf - 1009.30
5) Karma Hunter - 1008.11

DSRage hangs on to first place for the sixth straight day today, which brings him just one day away from tying the 10th longest streak for days in first (along with Samberdog from 2k3, pikaness from this contest, and King Morgoth's 3rd longest streak, from Sp2k4.) Meanwhile, cyko narrows the gap a little, pulling within two points of DSRage. Kaxon moves up to third, bumping Aprosenf down to fourth, and Karma Hunter moves onto the leaderboard for the first time in his Oracle career in fifth.

Full Standings:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k6&type=total&match=22

Top Team Scores:
1) Team mvp's - 98.92 (ps2rulezzz: +49.62 / basmeyer42: +49.30)
2) Team Don't Get Too Cocky - 98.76 (Lopen: +49.61 / satai_delenn: +49.15)
3) Team The Returners - 98.75 (cyko: +49.42 / steve illumina: +49.33)
4) Team Unfinished FFP - 97.86 (Ed Bellis: +48.19 / Karma Hunter: +49.67)
5) Team AAA - 97.64 (Aprosenf: +47.73 / Ayvuir: +49.91)

The mvp's appear to be making a bid for a repeat, with their second straight top score. Team Don't Get Took Cocky (Lopen and satai_delenn) is second, beating out The Returners by just 0.01 points. Team Unfinished FFP has a good day thanks to Karma Hunter's 5th place prediction and ranks fourth, while Team AAA (Aprosenf and Ayvuir) ranks fifth.

Complete Team Match Ranking:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k6&type=teammatch&match=22

Team Leaderboard:
1) Team Unfinished FFP (Ed Bellis / Karma Hunter) - 2014.42
2) Team We Used To Be Good? (Kaxon / King Morgoth) - 2004.42
3) Team Rage of Warcraft (War13104 / DSRage) - 2003.94
4) Team mvp's (ps2rulezzz / basmeyer42) - 2000.70
5) Team Happy Happyists (Camden / meche313) - 1998.76

Team Unfinished FFP remains in the lead for the third day in a row, and now leads by exactly 10 points. Team We Used To Be Good? climbs two spots to second while the former #2 team, The Spirit of Truth, tumbles to sixth. Team Rage of Warcraft stays in third and Team mvp's moves up two spots to fourth. Team Happy Happyists remains in fifth for another day.

I wouldn't say it's that likely that you'll lose ground to KH. Kratos's best hour has still only given him 42.5% of the vote. Ryu is generally not that bad in the afternoon, and also there is the night vote after that to go back up even if he does keep falling a bit.

Of course, for all I know with the new poll time, Ryu could just keep falling til the end of the poll (other than early afternoon) like Chun-Li against Kasumi. That'd be nice, considering I have about the same pick as KH.

The day vote right now isn't Kratos' real day vote. We have to wait until the afterschool hours for that. IIRC, it was still a few weeks before most people started school with Alucard vs. Kratos.

and I'm lower than all of you guys. I'd expect this to be similar to yesterday, where Kratos just slowly gains .01 throughout the later hours. plus, with the new poll time I wouldn't expect a night vote. those seem to have pretty much disappeared.

I dunno, 58.5 seems reasonable. it could go lower, but I'm not convinced on Kratos's day vote power since his one match was against Alucard.

This is hard to predict. Even though Bowser's matches with Chun-Li and Ryu went nearly the same, Chun-Li actually peaked before the "real" night vote even started (2am) against Kasumi, but Ryu was going up or staying even long after that today. That sort of indicates to me that Kasumi isn't that good with the day vote, and even she kept it 1% lower from this time until midnight. Depending on the logic you use, you could project this ending anywhere from like 57 to 60.5. Or maybe that's my bias because my pick is almost exactly half-way between those 2 :P.
