Why does it matter so much to go by "Cloud Strife" rather than "Cloud"? I thought parts of names worked just fine...

I'm surprised by people's lack of confidence in Spyro. I'm predicting a conservative 16.5% for him, but that actually seems low to me.

I'm surprised by people's lack of confidence in Spyro. I'm predicting a conservative 16.5% for him, but that actually seems low to me.

the problem with spyro is he hasn't been in since 2k2 (unreliable x-stats), and there's no way he's as popular as crash bandicoot, plus he's in a match against the star of resi4, a nintendo character, and a square character. the combination pretty much spells disaster for spyro.

Wow, Spyro could end up as the worst performing non-joke character (Zolom doesn't count) in the contest if this keeps up.

As for Top 5's, Mega Mana is also doing well. In any case, this certainly makes up for the paucity of top 5's in the past two contests for me. Plus, who knows what will happen in the 2nd half.

Match # 23 Results
Pikachu 36.62%
Tidus 31.84%
Isaac 17.60%
Serge 13.93%

Pikachu blew away our expectations yesterday, becoming the latest in a series of Pokemon to impress us this contest. Meanwhile Tidus became the latest Final Fantasy character to disappoint by finishing almost 5% behind Pika. Isaac did about as expected while Serge was an unmitigated flop. The consensus predictions were Isaac - 16.65%; Pikachu - 28.34%; Serge - 18.81%; Tidus - 36.04%, and the average score was 44.52 points.

Best Five Picks:
1) GaminGGuY - Isaac 19.00% - Pikachu 34.00% - Serge 14.00% - Tidus 33.00% (+48.68)
2) Mega Mana - Isaac 18.51% - Pikachu 32.76% - Serge 16.52% - Tidus 32.21% (+48.06)
3) Weird Kirby Dude11 - Isaac 18.08% - Pikachu 32.32% - Serge 14.60% - Tidus 35.00% (+47.84)
4) somdude04 - Isaac 13.00% - Pikachu 37.00% - Serge 15.00% - Tidus 35.00% (+47.69)
5) MegatokyoEd - Isaac 18.00% - Pikachu 32.00% - Serge 15.00% - Tidus 35.00% (+47.68)
5) KingBartz - Isaac 18.00% - Pikachu 32.00% - Serge 15.00% - Tidus 35.00% (+47.68)

Newcomer GaminGGuy gets the top pick on his very first Oracle prediction ever - that's starting in style! Mega Mana had the #2 pick for his 4th top 5 of the contest. Wierd Kirby Dude got his first top 5 of the contest in third. Somdude was fourth with his 20th lifetime top 5, while MegatokyoEd and KingBartz had exactly the same prediction, tying for fifth.

5) Haste2 - 1066.89

Once again The n00b Avenger remains in first - he's been there 16 out of 23 days so far this contest. Creativename moves up to second, the highest he's been since his amazing SC2k5 run, swapping places with supdawg. Moltar stays in 3rd and Haste2 stays in 5th.

Team mvp's is up there for the 6th time in 9 days (not even counting their sixth place yesterday), truly an impressive run. Team One-Two Punch (th3l3fty and yazzy) gets fourth, followed by Team Discovery Channel (Jmast and Leebo).

I can't figure out why, but you don't seem to have recorded my change to my prediction for this match, or the picks I made for the rest of the first round. The post I made them in is #430 in the "Round 1 - Divisions 5-8" topic. I reposted the ones for tomorrow through the end of round 1 in the new topic, but you still have my old pick for today's match on the website. I hope I just made some stupid mistake and nothing has gone wrong...

Match # 24 Results
Leon Kennedy 40.13%
Vivi Ornitier 30.87%
Ridley 18.88%
Spyro the Dragon 10.13%

Nothing too surprising today, but Leon did better than expected, just as the other RE4 character in the contest did earlier. The consensus predictions were Leon - 35.75%; Ridley - 19.94%; Spyro - 13.70%; Vivi - 30.72%. The average score was 46.37.

Best Five Picks:
1) Canth - Leon Kennedy 40.20% - Ridley 18.56% - Spyro 10.79% - Vivi 30.45% (+49.63)
2) BlAcK TuRtLe - Leon Kennedy 40.00% - Ridley 20.00% - Spyro 10.00% - Vivi 30.00% (+49.43)
3) StopPokingMe - Leon Kennedy 41.04% - Ridley 17.22% - Spyro 11.72% - Vivi 30.02% (+48.74)
3) Cokes - Leon Kennedy 41.35% - Ridley 16.37% - Spyro 11.32% - Vivi 30.96% (+48.74)
5) PeaceOut64 - Leon Kennedy 37.50% - Ridley 18.80% - Spyro 12.60% - Vivi 31.10% (+48.64)

Canth has the best prediction of the day, placing in the top 5 for his first time ever! Black Turtle gets second and StopPokingMe gets third, both for their 2nd top 5 of the contest (although StopPokingMe has 29 lifetime). Cokes places in the top 5 for the second time in four days, and PeaceOut64 takes fifth.

Complete Match Ranking:

3) creativename - 1114.40
4) Master Moltar - 1114.36
5) Haste2 - 1113.89

The n00b Avenger is still on top, but supdawg retakes second place from creativename! Creative and Moltar drop to third and fourth, respectively, while Haste2 remains in fifth. The race between 2-5 is very close (and MegatokyoEd and Ngamer aren't too far behind in 6th and 7th either).

5) Happy Happyists - 95.80 (Camden: +47.99 / meche313: +47.81)

Team Better Bettors gets their sixth top 5 with the top score, while Team mvp's continues their tear with their amazing 7th top 5 in 10 days. Team ted crunkensteinsience and the AUGHs makes its triumphant return the the top 5 after a long absence - Ed Bellis and transience both had exactly the same score with completely different predictions. (This seems to happen more often than it should). Team Indomitable Force (Aprosenf and Draco) gets its first top 5 of the contest, while Team Happy Happyists gets its third.

Complete Team Match Ranking:

4) Team Big Black Wangs (Master Moltar / Explicit Content) - 2214.03
5) Team Rage of Warcraft (War13104 / DSRage) - 2214.02

We have a change in the upper part of the leaderboard - Team mvp's has managed to overtake Team We Used To Be Good? for second place! Team Predestined Divination is still a long way ahead, but not as far as they were yesterday. Team Rage of Warcraft and Team Big Black Wangs hold on to their spots.

With a classic NES/GB era screenshot I would have given the Block a good chance at maybe 23-24%. But over 36, looking like a sponge, and without the name (Tetris) attached to the back? I'm so confused I need to lay down.
