Final Leaderboard:
1) cyko - 2879.72
2) Salient - 2875.71
3) Draco1214 - 2872.96
4) Aprosenf - 2868.55
5) ActJef1077 - 2865.55

The Summer 2006 Oracle Challenge is in the books, and cyko is our sixth Oracle champion! Despite his best efforts to pull defeat from the jaws of victory, cyko posted the change which would have handed the title to Salient five seconds late. Salient joins Bananaquest, creativename, and GoldSlime (and arguably MegatokyoEd as well) on the list of people who "should" have won an Oracle Challenge, but he'll have to settle for second place instead. Still a great finish for someone who's shown a lot of promise for the past four contests, but never managed to make the final leaderboard. Salient did hold the lead for two days and had an outstanding run there for a while close to the end.

Draco ends in third place, and this is definitely a breakout contest for him. After he first showed up midway through the Villains contest, he predicted all of Character Battle IV and the Series Contest, but finished in the middle of the pack both times. His third place establishes him as a force to be reckoned with.

Aprosenf boldly picked Samus to win the match, and reversed a recent slide to jump 11 places from 15th to fourth - not a bad final day of the contest! This is also his first top finish, although he's been around for the last four challenges and predicted all of the last two. The final spot on the final leaderboard belongs to ActJef, who made a furious last minute push - he cracked the top ten for the first time just three days ago, and was in the mid 20's two weeks ago. This was also only his second Oracle Challenge, making him the most successful 2006 newcomer in this contest.

A little bit lower down the standings we have an Oracle first - not one, but two people missed the final leaderboard by 0.01 points. The two people tied for sixth were PeaceOut64 and Oracle co-host King Morgoth who picked Samus to win the match but didn't raise his prediction the .01% necessary to make the top 5! His overall record is still amazing however, with a win, 2nd place, 3rd place, and now a 6th place to his name. PeaceOut may not be quite as frustrated, as this is his best finish to date, although he's had a string of 2x place finishes in 4 out of 6 previous contests.

The aforementioned MegatokyoEd, who for a while had a higher average score than the contest leader, ended up finishing with an average 0.002 below cyko's, so it's far from clear what would have happened if he hadn't missed a match. On the match he did miss, Yoshi vs Riku, 69 out of 161 people scored above the 45.84 points MegatokyoEd would have needed to win the title. So, as a rough estimate we can say there's about a 43% chance he would have won if he hadn't missed a day.

I planned to mention DSRage's final score here so we could see how he would have done without his 21.08 point typing mistake, but unfortunately he ended up getting disheartened and missing three matches, so the world will never know.
