1) Most impressive character so far?
I hate to say L-Block so I just won't say anything.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Zack > Wario BY THAT MUCH. That surprised me and mostly everyone else.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Um, I'm hoping Samus/Crono can so it satisfies my brackret, but I don't know...
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
No. It would do about the same. The only reason it's winning is because it has 28%-35% that will always vote for the damn thing. I could bet that a TIngle vs. L-Block match might actually be interesting!
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
For me it started out a lot tougher, but now it seems like it's really easy for me. Later rounds will probably make me think differently, but for now, I'm undecided.

1) Most impressive character so far?
I've got to say Zack. I mean, we all knew there were reasons he could be decent, but... not good ones, really. With how badly other RPG characters did both last year and this year, Zack's kind of shocking. Altair also deserves mention. And what's with the sudden competence of Captain Falcon?
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Thinking L-Block was a one-hit wonder. My bracket is kaput.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Nope. Last year's power plus bracket-voting. The only way Link could beat it is if the final is Link/Block/Nintendo/Nintendo, which is impossible for numerous reasons.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
Well, not against the noble nine. I reckon the block could go even with, say, Leon Kennedy. And who wouldn't want to see L-Block vs. Frog, or L-Block vs. Master Chief?
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Easier; at least we have last year's data to judge how 4-way matches generally go. You won't see nearly as many people getting burned by CT and Sonic characters, for instance. Once the first round is over and the hordes of new characters are gone, I think it'll become pretty obvious this year will be higher-scoring than last year was.

Tag and answer to the quickies.
1) Most impressive character so far?
Without question, L-Block. Looking for a back-to-back victory. If we exclude it, however, (not being a character and all that lol stuff) I'd say Zack did good. Too good for my likeness >__>
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Diddy Kong. I guess it was to be expected with Donkey-choke, but my mind almost explode to see that C.Falcon started doubling him. It's sad that the little fellow gets no love.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Good question. It depends, but with only this match it looks like there are few to none characters that can.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
I don't think so. Then again, I thought he was going to be shut on round 2 this year and it doesn't look likely at this point.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
So far, so good. I've been doing a lot better than past contest, and we're doing pretty good on the team challenge too. Last few matches haven't go that well though.

1) Most impressive character so far?
Probably Altair, since hardly any of us thought he'd do so well.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Lucario. Worthless piece of ****.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Based on the last match, 90% no. If he can beat Ryu yesterday, he'll have more momentum next round to beat Ryu again (this time more soundly).
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
I think he could. I think most of the statsheads are underestimating him, and even though the fourpack format probably does help him, I don't think it's so much of a boost that he would crash and burn without it.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
I've been doing much better than last year (I got 1st place yesterday!) but then again last year was my first Oracle, so it's hard to say. I think it's a little easier this year, but only because I'm more experienced. Contest-wise, I don't think it's much different.

Well, today's match will be the first low scoring match in quite a while. I'm probably expecting an average between 44 and 45 points.
1) Most impressive character so far?
Altair
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Scorpion. He almost lost to Gordon Freeman.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
L-Block won't go down in round 2, because as we've seen so far, L-Block has always managed to defeat the same character he lost in the last round. Losing to Kirby in round 1, defeating Kirby in round 2. Losing to Kratos in round 2, defeating Kratos in round 3. Same goes with Snake in round 3 and 4. If there is any fourpack that can stop L-Block, it will be in round 4 with the Samus/Vincent/Crono/L-Block match. Round 3 will be easy for L-Block as it's most likely going to be Crono/L-Block/Pikachu/Alucard.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
Yes, but it will mostly depend on seed placement. Give L-Block a 7 or 8 seed, and he's up against powerful competition in the first round that will probably destroy him. A 1 or 2 seed for L-Block gives him the best chance of going far in a 1-on-1 setting.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Easier, because I have last year's matches to use as a reference point in deciding on my predictions. Right now, my overall average is slightly better than the overall average I had for last year's contest.

1) Most impressive character so far?
It's a tie between Altair and Zack.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
A tie between Niko and Lucario.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
If it isn't stopped next round, which honestly would surprise me if it was, it's going to be Link who'll at least prevent it from outright winning the contest.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
No.

I wasn't here last year but I guess it's easier now since people already have something to work with.

Altair and Zidane.
2) Your biggest deception so far?

3) Anything can stop L this year?
Doesn't look like it. I thought one of the reasons people were voting for him was that he was something completely different than 'lol Link wins' but since he just won and his performance looked like he never missed a beat, apparently not.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
XD no. He'd get the exact same percentages he gets now.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Tougher at the beginning and the matches going down right now, but pretty easy there for a while in the middle.

1) Most impressive character so far?
Zack. As a black-haired Cloud we obviously knew he had strong potential, but the guy had everything against him in that first match- Final Fantasy LFF to hold him back, a lone Brawl character there to be a lightning rod for Nintendo, and yet he not only won but did so easily. That result looks even better now, since Wario was somehow able to defeat Captain Falcon last season even though we now realize that he's actually got some okay strength.
Second place to Altair, who totally blew me away by taking that match so easily. But the competition was weaker and he had no one involved to hold him back, so Zack's performance was still the more impressive of the two. I do want to say though that if what Falcon had shown us at the start of today's match had been legitimate, he'd have been my choice for this answer and it wouldn't have even been close. As is he still wows me enough to earn a mention, because dang, imagine where he might be if not for Diddy holding him down a little.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Got to be Lucario, no question. He's got Brawl, he's the face of a Pokemon generation that has done huge sales, both SSB and Pokemon have been proven to be money in this format... and yet he's barely stronger than Isaac? Offhand I can't think of any greater disappointment from a newcomer character.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Factor in The Dog and it's pretty clear that L's already head and heels above Ryu and Crono. Now, give him Link in a match TOMORROW without someone else Nintendo, and he could be beaten, but I get the sense that he's going to roll on and absorb strength like he did last year so that by the time he gets to Link and Cloud it will be another win. So realistically, I can only see him getting knocked out of this bracket by Sandbag or WCC getting into a match and splitting enough of the joke with him to allow the two strong legit characters to get by. And that's pretty sad to consider.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
If by hold his own you mean perform well enough to knock out fodder, then yeah, probably. Put him up against someone with a dedicated fanbase but little to no appeal to the casual voter (like an Alucard maybe), and I could see enough of the disinterested voters hoping on the joke to allow him to sneak by. But put him against anyone with decent strength and also the ability to draw casual votes (Ryu's a good example) and he would be crushed under the weight of the anti-votes.
Imagine how enjoyable it will be to see 20,000 casual brackets go up in flames all at once... All the more reason to push for a return to 1v1 next Summer.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Eh, I guess I would say easier, just because I have actually stats taken from this format last year to work with when making my estimations. That is, I WOULD say easier, except for how badly Division One and now Division Four have owned us- for the moment that swings my vote far enough to vote harder.

1) Most impressive character so far? Zack or Altair
2) Your biggest deception so far? Niko...
3) Anything can stop L this year? Crono and Ryu, next round.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting? nope. L gets the same percentage of votes in either setting, i'm guessing. (tetris/old school/joke vote)...maybe it's enough for a few wins though...
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict? way harder for me...don't know why either, just is...

1) Most impressive character so far?
Haven't been following too closely. Maybe Gordon? Did a lot better than most people expected.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
That damn L-Block.
3) Anything can stop L this year?
I sure hope so.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
Yep. If it is 1 on 1 anyway.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Probably easier, don't think I did very well at all last year.

1) Most impressive character so far?
Altair.
2) Your biggest deception so far?
Lucario, Niko, Diddy Kong (poor Diddy ;_;)
3) Anything can stop L this year?
I have him falling against Crono/Vincent/Samus. Finding that more and more unlikely though.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
Probably not to the extent that he's dominating this year, but yes.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
Didn't participate last year.

Oh wow. Well any time I can finish 104th, and yet our team gains a spot and moves back into first place, that isn't such a terrible result.
I guess.

Match # 15 Results
Alucard 35.54%
Captain Falcon 28.39%
Diddy Kong 18.92%
Kratos Aurion 17.14%
Looks like the predictable part of the contest is over! This time Captain Falcon was the one surprising us, beating Diddy Kong by over 9 percent when most expected Diddy to take second place. Alucard at least won comfortably... all part of the plan.
Consensus:
Alucard - 33.77%
Captain Falcon - 21.76%
Diddy Kong - 23.69%
Kratos Aurion - 20.71%
Best Five Picks:
1) Ayvuir - Alucard 34.33% - Captain Falcon 30.04% - Diddy 18.31% - Kratos Aurion 17.32% (+49.08)
2) RPGLord95 - Alucard 35.00% - Captain Falcon 30.00% - Diddy 20.00% - Kratos Aurion 15.00% (+48.65)
3) yoshifan823 - Alucard 38.12% - Captain Falcon 28.88% - Diddy 16.84% - Kratos Aurion 16.84% (+48.63)
4) octoinky - Alucard 34.00% - Captain Falcon 27.00% - Diddy 21.00% - Kratos Aurion 18.00% (+48.53)
5) neonreaper - Alucard 32.50% - Captain Falcon 27.50% - Diddy 21.50% - Kratos Aurion 16.50% (+48.21)
Ayvuir destroyed the competition today, winning by close to half a point over everyone else. RPGLord was second, with yoshifan right behind him in third. Octoinky gets 4th (his 16th lifetime top 5), and Neonreaper strikes back at his rival Luster Soldier by getting fifth today.

5) Froussard - 93.92 (kaonashi1: +45.77 / oneills1: +48.15)
The unpredictable match shows in the top team scores, where we get more new blood than we've had in a while. Team Elderly Excellence (Alanna and Neon) are first today by almost a point in a half. This is their second time in the top 5 this contest. Below them are three teams making their first appearance in the top 5. Team SPO*N (ActJef and Weird Kirby Dude), who had numerous top 5s last contest, are second, followed by Team Propane (Menji and SF_Clowns) in third. Team Forclusion (former guru winner Z1mZum and MartinFF7) are fourth, and Team Froussard (kaonashi and oneills) get their third top 5 of the season in 5th. Team Pornographique came close to getting their second top 5 in a row but landed in 6th instead.

4) Team Kirby (kawaiifan / Luster Soldier) - 1407.23
5) Team We Used To Be Good? (Kaxon / King Morgoth) - 1405.64
This is the exciting part! Today we have our first ever (I think) tie for first in the team standings! Team Predestined Divination made up the ground they lost on Team 31 yesterday, but just barely, pulling into a tie between the two teams. On top of that, the Happy Happyists tighten the pack even more, pulling within 0.09 points of the top two. This is the closest race I can ever remember seeing in this contest. A little ways back of the leaders are Team Kirby, holding in 4th place, and Team We used To Be Good?, who climb back into fifth today.

1) Most impressive character so far? Altair and Arthas (how did KOSMOS beat Arthas?)
2) Your biggest deception so far? KOSMOS
3) Anything can stop L this year? nope
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting? maybe
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict? Easier since I am doing better
side note, darn it Wow rallyiers. I thought they didnt care about the characters *points to Kerrigan who failed*

yay, I'll probably score over 49 today
It should help me recover from my horrible pick in Crono's match
---
Today's prediction: Pikasuck 33.00% - Arthas 25.70% - Ike 25.40% - Spy 15.90%
Status: Great

1) Most impressive character so far?
ZackFAQs!
2) Your biggest deception so far?
I don't think I've deceived anyone yet!
3) Anything can stop L this year?
Yes. He barely beat Ryu, and I don't see him gaining steam like he did last year, since at this point the joke gets more stale every round, rather than better. At this point I think it probably takes second in the next two rounds, possibly squeaks through round 4 due to Crono/Vincent SFF, and then gets knocked out.
4) Do you think L could actually hold his own next year in a 1on1 setting?
It'd probably be a high midcarder, I doubt it'd do much better than that.
5) Mandatory Oracle question: Easier or tougher than last year to predict?
I barely remember last year's, but since I'm doing better in the standings now I guess this one's easier!
---
I made a living on time trial blowing myself off to cross the finish line at ludicrous speed. -transience

I'm back on the leaderboard, we collected another Top 5 and we're on top of the team leaderboard! A good day.
Hopefully whatever that cube thing is comes down to earth, I was wondering why people had it taking down Donkey Kong. Is this L-Block 2.0 or something?

Awesome, I think I'm going to be in the top 5 for the Pikachu round.
Of course, i'll be sliding down bigtime if WCC's % stays anywhere near this high. Damn...
