Bah, probably shouldn't have changed my 56.xx Luigi prediction to 50.00 for Luigi. Oh well, I'll still get 5 points more than everyone who picked Zero.

And Zero has started to eat Luigi's percents now, so I might still get a good result.

Woah. I just noticed something. DSRage and cyko both predicted Zero with over 54%+. This means that a lot of people will minimize there distance from the leaders a lot. Big shakeup tomorrow! (or not really shake-up but things will look more interesting, I think)

Well I just have bad luck then. The three users that are just behind me in the overall results will gain around three points on me, and my prediction was a 53%. I thought that a lot of people had gone with 50 also.

So was I. The Ganondorf/Vincent match scared me a lot more than this one did. But I felt just as confident with Celes as well, and that one came back to haunt me.

Zero hurts me in Oracle, the Cowboys go and lose to the Eagles, and I get burned on a FAQ bounty. Not my favorite 24 hours

Hello? Hello? Long time predictor, first time caller. Two part question... What are the Top Ten most surprising results in Oracle history, in terms of % of competitors picking the losing character? And part two, how close was Luigi/Zero to making that listing?

I'll hang up and listen.

Match #28 Results
Luigi 53.71%
Zero 46.29%

In one of the biggest surprises of the contest so far, Luigi easily took care of Zero, notching the most impressive performance of his four year contest career. 89 Oracles had Zero winning the match and only 41 picked Luigi. The consensus was Zero with 51.35% and the average score was 40.40.

Best Five Picks:
1) King_Zog - Luigi 53.72% (+49.99)
2) yoshifan823 - Luigi 53.45% (+49.74)
3) Janus5000 - Luigi 53.44% (+49.73)
4) DarkLink89 - Luigi 54.45% (+49.26)
5) JayLv100 - Luigi 52.70% (+48.99)

King_Zog had the best prediction of the day - his post 1 minute into the match somehow didn't jinx him, and he finished with 49.99 points. Yoshifan got second, for his first top 5 of the contest. Janus and DarkLink89 each got their third top 5 of the contest in third and fourth place. JayLv100 got his fifth top 5 of the contest, and is on pace to make a run at the record of 12 in a contest.

Complete Match Ranking:
http://www.oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k6&type=match&match=28

Current Leaderboard:
1) DSRage - 1286.15
2) cyko - 1285.83
3) Kaxon - 1283.20
4) Karma Hunter - 1278.65
5) Draco1214 - 1273.42

Despite the upset, the leaderboard remains as boring as can be, with no changes at all today. That's because everyone in the top 13 picked Zero. To get some excitement, let's look at the extended leaderboard:

6) King Morgoth - 1272.48
7) Rodri316 - 1271.42
8) KleenexTissue50 - 1271.06
9) Ed Bellis - 1269.79
10) ps2rulezzz - 1268.99

King Morgoth and Kleenex both jump into the top 10 today thanks to picking Luigi to win the match. ps2rulezzz also moves up into 10th with a low (50.01%) prediction for Zero. Luster Soldier, Aprosenf, and Camden all drop out of the top 10 with higher Zero predictions.

Full Standings:

Top Team Scores:
1) Team Battle with Gilgamesh > JENOVA - 98.02 (Janus5000: +49.73 / KleenexTissue50: +48.29)
2) Team Fibonacci - 95.70 (Lagoona: +47.09 / ScorpionX3: +48.61)
3) Team Rocket - 94.56 (Ringworm: +48.27 / BZer0: +46.29)
4) Team Lions on a Plane - 94.05 (yoshifan823: +49.74 / RX7InfinitiIII: +44.31)
5) Team AAA - 88.07 (Aprosenf: +39.18 / Ayvuir: +48.89)

Kleenex and Janus's Team Battle with Gilgamesh > JENOVA is the top scoring team today. Team Fibonacci follows up yesterday's #1 score with a #2 today. Team Rocket (Ringworm and BZer0) are third, as the only other team where both members picked Luigi. Team Lions on a Plane makes the top 5 even though RX7 didn't predict the match, because yoshifan's prediction was good enough to carry the team. Team AAA gets fifth, with Ayvuir picking the right winner but Aprosenf taking Zero.

Complete Team Match Ranking:

lol at SC continuously raining down ownage, even at oracle. These matches make me sad I never did oracle in the past. I've been here, lurking around, but I guess I just never wanted to commit to a long term thing back then.

And I would have had Pac-man right, too. Everything else wrong.

And I'm finally interested in Oracle again for this contest, after a terrible week of bad/just plain wrong predictions. Now, Crono is just where I predicted. I just wish he would stay there, then I could look good for once >_>

Thanks Kax! Yeah, I went 0/10 on those matches, as I'm sure many of us (who were there for them all) did. Still hard to believe people had such supreme faith in a newcomer like VJ... though I shouldn't talk, since I was one of his strongest supporters.

Speaking of which, I've never been more disgusted with my prediction skills than I was at the end of that SC run. I knew it would be strong, but first I thought the Xbox fanbase would be too much for it, then I thought that the Square fanbase was too strong on this site, then I thought that Nintendo would surely kill the beast, and then I finally threw up my hands and gave up. So I took it over Melee and looked like a fool again. Such great memories.

Match #29 Results
Crono 74.16%
Captain Falcon 25.84%

Crono began extremely impressively in the night hours yesterday, but during the day dropped all the way below the tripling, much more in line with expectations. There were 128 predictions, all for Crono. The consensus was Crono with 75.45% and the average score was 46.25.

Best Five Picks:
1) Salient - Crono 74.12% (+49.96)
2) plasmabeam - Crono 74.11% (+49.95)
3) BeTheMan - Crono 74.25% (+49.91)
4) DSRage - Crono 74.26% (+49.90)
5) SephirothG - Crono 74.01% (+49.85)

Salient is today's top predictor! This is his second top prediction of the contest, third top 5, and 17th lifetime top 5. Plasmabeam scores .01 behind him in second, for his first top 5 of the contest. BeTheMan gets third for his 2nd top five of the contest and 19th lifetime. Current leader DSRage protects his lead with the fourth best prediction, and SephirothG has the fifth best pick of the day.

Complete Match Ranking:

2) cyko - 1334.49
3) Kaxon - 1330.34
4) Karma Hunter - 1327.30
5) Draco1214 - 1322.26

The leaderboard remains unchanged once again, although DSRage is able to pad his lead a bit with the great prediction. Kaxon loses some ground on the other leaders while cyko, Karma Hunter, and Draco all predicted almost exactly the same thing. On the extended leaderboard, Salient moves up to 10th with his top pick. Sadly, our top 10 now features 100% less crunk as Ed Bellis drops down to 13th.
